PRODUCING

Sarah has played the part of producer, stage manager, and has dabbled in PR and marketing on various productions in the past. She held the title of Artistic Director and Executive Producer at The Bia Theatre Ensemble from 2017 to 2019. Through Bia, Sarah has put on several productions in New York City (Off-off Broadway), including a festival of short plays by women called “The Found Festival”, a 24-hour play festival, The Vagina Monologues, and Charles L Mee’s Bedtime Stories. Sarah wrote one of the plays for “The Found Festival” and performed in Bedtime Stories.

Sarah’s debut as a producer was for two one-act operas in the fall of 2013 at the Alchemical Theatre in New York City. The Telephone and La Voix Humaine were on the bill, directed by Ashley Kelly-Tata and Paul Peers respectively. Sarah sang the role of Lucy in this production of The Telephone.

WRITING

Sarah’s one-act play The Edge premiered in January of 2018 as a part of "The Found Festival" put on by her theatre company The Bia Theatre Ensemble. It has since been published.

Sarah began writing more consistently during the pandemic, when she had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful group of writers through an online Gotham Writers memoir class. She continues to write non-fiction, poetry (some to be set to music), and has an opera libretto in the works.

Occasionally she shares her poetry here.

VISUAL ART

Sarah has been honing her skills as a visual artist since birth. In recent history, she has made a habit of completing Inktober every year (check out some of her drawings on Instagram!), has hand-drawn, carved, and stamped countless block prints; and is finally getting back into film photography after a long hiatus from the craft. Sarah started an Etsy page in college, Precious Rhinestones, which will soon be reopened as a platform to sell her lino-prints, photos, and beyond! Stay tuned—booths at various flea markets and a mail club will be announced soon! (Can’t wait? Please contact Sarah with your request or idea! She is always open to commissions and has done photoshoots for local bands, models, and other creative beings in the past.)

ALTERNATIVE PERFORMANCE

After connecting with fellow artists in Suzuki training at SITI Company, Sarah performed in the durational performance art piece Blood and Soil: The Art of Survival at the Performance Mix Festival with the feminist collective The Do-Mystics in June, 2018. The piece tackled the issues of femicide, the role of women in society, and inherited female trauma by utilizing 12 woman-identifying performers who repeated daily tasks such as sweeping, sewing, and writing for the duration of the six-hour performance.
