Lotte sagt nein, ich sage ja (solo vocal recital)

Sarah Daniels presents her first solo vocal recital since 2016 in this exciting collaboration with pianist Eric Sedgwick. The title Lotte sagt nein, ich sage ja or “Lotte says no, I say yes” is a direct reference to the fact that Sarah was never able to advance past the video round of The Kurt Weill Foundation’s renowned Lotte Lenya Competition, and has since aged out of competing. After hundreds of hours of work on the songs and arias submitted to this competition, Sarah decided it is time to present all of this carefully curated programing to a live audience for the first time. The timing of this recital also happens to coincide with America’s descent into fascism, and so the evening will not only consist of the full programs from Sarah’s 2020-2025 Lotte Lenya submissions, but other anti-fascist songs by Kurt Weill as well. In response to the current American fascist regime, this recital will function as a fundraiser as well as a protest in and of itself. Entry is $15, but additional donations are welcome, and all profits will go to local mutual aid organizations that support those targeted by ICE.
